Fires in Nahuel Huapi Affect Bariloche

The smoke from the wildfires in Nahuel Huapi National Park has reached the city of Bariloche after two months since the fires began. Residents reported to the Argentine News Agency about the strong smell in the locality. In a scenario of uncertainty due to resource shortages and the hard work of Firefighters and Crew, the inhabitants and tourists of Bariloche woke up on Wednesday to the smoke that has come from the fires.

"There is a lot of smoke and odor. The mountains should be visible, but today they are not," stated a neighbor sadly. According to experts, the dense cloud of smoke will persist throughout the day due to the wind direction coming from the west. The Emergency Committee has communicated that the fire in Los Manzanos remains active, especially in two specific areas: Lake Roca – Hess and El Manso.

It has been noted that the fire focuses are located in hard-to-reach areas and that the resources to combat the flames are limited. Although extreme heat days are not expected, with maximum temperatures of only 23 degrees, isolated rains could arrive late on Saturday evening.
